HOMEMADE FACIAL MASK FOR DAMAGED SKIN: Damaged skin could cause skin irritation, make you look older and keep you uncomfortable. Many people will result to buying different creams and lotions to remedy the damage but most of these even damage your skin more, exposing it to chemical. So why exposing your tender skin to harsh chemicals when you can produce your mask yourself?
Let’s take a look at some facial masks you can produce for your skin yourself at the comfort of your house:
For Dry Skin
Having a dry skin means your skin is unable to retain moisture and this could cause damage to your skin. Dryness of the skin could cause your skin to itch and could cause eczema and dermatitis.
Taking long hot showers, using harsh soap and cosmetic product and some other things your skin could be allergic to, could cause dryness of your skin.
Here are some homemade facial mask for dry skin:
Banana Mask: Bananas are very healthy and nutritious. They contain minerals like vitamin C and E and potassium and also contains moisture. These replenishes and hydrate your skin. Honey retains moisture and gives a golden glow to your face. Yogurt nourishes and soothes your dry skin.
Peel about two ripe bananas and place them in a mixing bowl.
Mash it into a lumpy puree using a fork.
Add a quarter cup of yogurt and a spoon of honey.
Mix very well and apply to your face using a cosmetic brush.
Allow to dry and wash off using warm water.
Gentle dry your face with a soft clean towel.
Oatmeal, Milk and Honey Mask: Powdered oatmeal removes dirt and dead skin cells from your skin. It also moisturizes and soothes your skin.
It has anti-inflammatory properties and amino acids that help repair and heal skin. Milk contains fats and nutrients that help rejuvenate your dry skin.
Mix together 2 tablespoon of oatmeal powder, 2 tablespoon of milk, 2 tablespoon of honey and 2 drops of lavender essential oil.
Apply to your face using a cosmetic brush and leave for 20mins.
Rinse of with warm water.
Aloe Vera Gel And Milk Cream: Aloe vera has antibacterial and skin-healing properties. It’s gel is used to reduce sun burn, scars and acne. Milk cream is rich in fats and it nourishes and moisturizes your skin.
Pour a quarter cup of fresh milk cream in a mixing bowl and add two tablespoon of fresh aloe vera gel.
Mix them thoroughly and apply to your face using a cosmetic brush.
Allow to sit on your face for about 30mins.
Wash off with warm water and gently pat your face with a clean soft towel.
Coconut And Honey Mask: Coconut oil contains saturated fats which nourishes and moisturizes your skin without making it oily. It also contains antimicrobial properties that controls and prevents skin infections. Also, honey contains strong antibacterial properties that hydrates skin and locks in moisture to give it a soft feel. Lavender essential oil on the other hand has anti-inflammatory properties and lends a delicate fragrance to your skin.
Pour a quarter cup of pure honey in a mixing bowl.
Add two spoons of virgin coconut oil and two drops of lavender essential oil.
Mix the three of them together very well.
Apply to your face using a cosmetic brush and leave for about 20mins.
Rinse off with warm water and pat dry with a clean soft towel.
Egg And Olive Oil Mask:
Olive oil replenishes your skin without making it feel greasy. It has vitamin E, which lends greater elasticity to your skin. Egg yolk has fats and water which hydrates and nourishes your skin and also lock in moisture. Bananas are also very helpful for dry skin.
Crack open an egg, remove the white and the yoke in different bowls. We’ll make use of the yoke.
Peel and add a half banana into the bowl with the yoke.
Add one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and mix thoroughly.
Apply to your face using a cosmetic brush.
Allow to sit for about 20mins, wash off with lukewarm water.
For Oily Skin
Excessive oil on the skin makes it greasy and keeps you uncomfortable. Here are some homemade face mask for oily skin:
Rice Flour, Green Tea And Lemon Juice Mask: Rice flour treats blemishes, dark spots and pigmentation. Due to its exfoliating properties, it soaks the excess oil and sebum on your skin. Green tea reduces the production of sebum on your skin. It also glows and moisturizes your skin.Lemon juice moisturizes and tones your oily skin, making it look glowing and healthy.
Brew some green tea and allow it to cool.
Add 3 tablespoons of cool green tea solution and 3-4 table spoons of rice flour.
Add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to it to form a smooth and spreadable paste.
Mix more tea if the paste is too thick.
To a cleansed face, apply the mixture over your face and allow to sit for about 20 minutes.
Rinse with cool water.
Green Tea And Lemon Juice:
Lemon juice has lots of vitamin C that boosts collagen development. It contains also citric acid that lightens your overall skin and tightens your skin pores. Its also contains potassium which helps in hydration. It is also a rich source of lutein which boosts natural antioxidants to fight ageing and increases UV defense.
Green tea is an antioxidant and natural UV protector. It is packed with minerals that nourishes skin and fights ageing also.
Turmeric powder also has anti-inflammatory properties that fight eczema,acne, and many other skin problems. It also acts as a potent antioxidant to lighten blemishes, dark spots, sunspots, etc.
Take 2 tablespoons of green tea.
½ teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
A pinch of turmeric powder.
Mix very well in a bowl.
Use cotton ball to pat the mask all over your cleansed face.
Give it a few minutes to dry out and repeat. When the pack is finished, allow to sit on your face for about 10 minutes.
Rinse off with cool water and pat dry your face.
Note: If the turmeric powder stains your skin, use sugar scrub to get rid of it. You could also decide not to use the tumeric at all.
